Young Birders Club: Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge in Alviso

On this field trip, we'll see the birds in parts of the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. We'll start at the New Chicago Marsh Trail before walking across the boardwalk to see various shorebirds. Then, we'll explore some of pond A16.

This trip is designed for young birders, but parents and siblings are welcome to attend. We welcome birders of all skill levels! Loaner binoculars are available for participants.

Note: Bring a hat, sunscreen, but also bring a layer. Morning may start breezy and will warm up throughout the trip

Trip Difficulty: 1 miles, packed dirt trails

Loaner Binoculars Available, Beginner Friendly, 2 hours or less, No elevation gain

Meet: Start of New Chicago Marsh Trail, where there is a small area for parking.

Directions: From CA-237 exit north onto Zanker Rd. Continue on Zanker Rd for about 2.5 miles (Zanker Rd becomes Los Esteros Rd). Make a sharp right turn onto Grand Blvd and continue into the park. Latitude/Longitude: 37.439242, -121.959694


We will meet at 37°26'09.1"N 121°57'29.1"W. This coordinate has some parking, but if full, the directions above includes more paved parking.

Facilities: ADA accessible bathroom, drinking water, cell coverage may be intermittent or non-existent
